I attended the jazz festival for the three days and I had a great time. Friday night started off with a bang especially with the highlight of the night, Giles Peterson. He certainly got the crowd boogying away to his mixture of jazz funk. It was a short set and certainly left me wanting more! So I went to the after show party at JZ and I wasn't disappointed there either. Kuzu and JZ Latino played and again the crowd were dancing to the salsa music, it was heaving!

On Saturday Shanghai was hit by an hour or so of torrential rain! Luckily the organisers were prepared and handed out rain macs for the soaked crowds. I actually quite enjoyed listening to the Bai Tian’s sextet while the rain came down around me. They sounded great and were an excellent band to start off the day, even in the rain. I especially enjoyed the next band; The Rhythm Junks who are from Belgium. The rain stopped and they certainly got me dancing around in the mud. I felt like I was at Glastonbury!! (famous music festival in England). By the way, to answer your question, the amazing female trumpeter you saw in JZ was from the Rhythm Junks.

I'd have to agree wth you about Incognito, I really had fun dancing to their music. It brought back lots of memories when I was a fan of theirs in my school days in the 90's in the UK. It was great that they played probably their biggest hit- Don't you worry 'bout a thing. Again the party continued at JZ after with great jamming by JQ, Andy, Alec and Toby. The party then got into full swing when members of the Rhythm Junks and Incognito hit the stage and jammed together. They should do more of that at JZ, it was good fun and the place was rocking.

Sunday's highlights were: Eugene with Sugar Mama, they certainly got the crowd moving as they belted out their songs. Of course Coco Zhao & the Possicobilities were also amazing on the Water stage, their set was more relaxed and romantic in a great setting. The night ended with a bang as Laura Fygi took to the stage accompanied by the JZ Big Band. Laura is certainly an entertainer and she enjoyed making suggestive comments before each song like: "Let's make music!" It was fun watchng as she involved the Big Band and sang to Alec and even danced with Rolf Becker! or should I say Fred Astaire!!!

Suggestions:

I have to agree that they should allow people re-entry during the festival which they finally did on the Sunday. They could have made more profit but instead people's money went to delivery MacDonalds. I think that more toilets were needed in the park, especially as the men were being diverted to the rubbish bins to allow more toilets for the ever long female queue!

But to end on a high note, I thought the whole weekend was amazing. There were some greats acts at the festival and I certainly went out on a high!!!
