Coco in DC
Coco Zhao has been traveling the world, making his debut in the United States this summer as well as returning to Canada and Europe this trip. Here is a video of his performance in DC with Burnett Thompson, the pianist and educator who has been to Shanghai this year a few times already to perform and do master classes. I think it’s a video at least, I’m not sure because I refuse to install realplayer on my computer. Let me know in a comment below if it’s just audio…and how it is. I would guess Peng Fei is playing on it as well.
I have yet to hear exactly where else Coco is performing this time (as opposed to just traveling)…however I just missed him in NYC last week, I arrived the day after he and Peng Fei left town headed for DC. Part of the reason this blog has not been updated in way too long a time is because of the 2-week trip I just took; I went home to Santa Fe and also spent 5 days in New York City, hanging with Andy Hunter and playing a few night with Ochun. If you don’t recall, Ochun is the Cuban band who came out last October to play in the Fuxing Jazz Fest, and rumor has it that they intend to return to Shanghai this fall (but not for the festival).

Yes it’s a video.
By the way, for those who read Chinese, Coco Zhao is writing a blog while he’s on tour : http://www.louder.cn/cocoism

Great! Thanks for that info. I’ll check in there for the news “straight from the horse’s mouth” about the rest of his tour.
