Aron and Aronas at JZ club
I got to hear the last part of the Aronas show at JZ tonight before I returned home to finish packing so I can leave town tomorrow.?? Quite an interesting setup, he used a keyboard and placed it in the center of the stage facing out.?? The quartet he used consisted of Scott Dodd on bass and Chris Trzcinski and Ian McCuaig on drums/percussion.?? Both drummers had lots of fun percussion toys to fill out the sound of the band as they alternated playing the foundational drummer role.
I missed the material they rehearsed, but what I did get to hear was lots of fun.?? The audience was also extremely attentive which lent even more energy to the music.?? I believe earlier they played lots of Aron’s original tunes.
Tomorrow I will head back home to New Mexico for Christmas and then come back to Shanghai for New Years.?? Aron will continue playing with the thursday quintet in my absence, and then we’ll have at least one more chance to play together before he leaves town early in January.
