Natural Jazz at the House of Blues and Jazz
Well it’s about time I filled you in on what’s happening over at the good ol’ House of Blues and Jazz, since Carlton J. Smith has already been gone over a month and the new band is going strong. These guys and gal are one solid group, doing a nice range of original music and well-arranged standards. They also have a nicely robust website that does a great job of introducing them so I won’t go into personal detail. I will say, though, that it’s great to have Cece and Sam back in town playing again, and this time not in Pudong! And the other players they’ve brought with them this time from Mauritius are also top-notch. They have a good energy on stage, and a different sound than any other band in town.
Their contract goes through January so you’ve got some time to get to know them. They also host a jam session every sunday night, not breaking the already long-standing tradition that HBJ has had for years. The House of B&J is located on Maoming rd, just on the south side of the intersection with FuXing rd, across from the tall building.
