This group is amazing!?? Besides the fact that they are all virtuoso musicians, we never get to hear vibraphone in Shanghai.?? I just got to see them tonight at JZ, where they split the bill with the regular sunday night group run by Coco.?? They also played a few tunes with Coco and Peng Fei (violin) together before Coco’s regular band took the stage for the final set, which also saw players from the first band join the stage as well.
And the good news is, if you missed it tonight, you still have a few more chances to hear Jean play the vibes.?? His own band will play the entire night tomorrow night (actually today, monday the 13th), and then Jean will join my quintet thursday night as well (Barry is leaving for Thailand again tuesday).?? So come on down and catch some good vibes!
