Shanghai Jazz Book Project Update

Alec and JQI apologize for the misleading photo I included with the first post about the photo book, which was not in fact one of Alice’s own shots, but rather a generic black and white photo of piano and hands. So this time I have made sure to feature a genuine Jagtman original (that I happen to be in too! But just in the background).??  Click thumbnail to view original size photo in all its glory.
The Shanghai Jazz Book Project featuring Alice Jagtman’s jazz photography has recently transformed a bit. She has separated from the original partners initially involved and decided to move ahead with the project on her own. She would like to pre-sell copies of the book in order to help fund the project, as there are no sponsors as yet to back the effort and thus will have to be funded completely herself. This new version will differ slightly from the previous in that it will contain less text and more photos. She has not decided yet whether to go through a large publishing company in order to have an ISBN number, or to produce it independently without ISBN which would mean it could not be sold in stores.
Additionally, Alice has graciously requested that I write the introduction to her book, which is a great honor for me. I’m happy to be a part of it, as she has been capturing the jazz scene in her photos for over two years now and continues to shoot frequently even now. I’ve seen a ton of fantastic shots that will go in the book and it will be wonderful to be part of sharing that with even more people.

To pre-order books, contact me for Alice’s email.
