Chinese-Latin fusion on the rise

Mandarina China Band to release album, Go on world tour (from Shanghai Daily)
Everyone’s favorite Colombian saxophonist Alvaro Cardenas has a new project, the Mandarina China Band. This group, backed by the Colombia-China Commerce and Integration Chamber in Shanghai, is getting ready to release an album and take its eleven pieces on the road. The group, who plays some Chinese music played in a Salsa style, some Latin songs with Chinese lyrics, and original Spanish songs sung by Chinese singers, sounds like a fun project.

I hope they play some shows for us in town before going to Colombia, the States, and around the mainland for their tour. Stay tuned for CD release party news as it breaks…
